Nowolipki Street is a place where the interpenetration of different historical periods and layers of Muranów’s everyday life are still most visible. Are there buildings that survived the war? How is the tragic fate of the people who lived here commemorated? What was erased and what was left during the reconstruction works, and what were the reasons for those decisions? These and other questions will be answered during our walk around Nowolipki. We will visit the house where the Germans set up their command post while clearing the Warsaw Ghetto. We’ll stop by the area where 70 years ago The Ringelblum Archive had been discovered, then included in the UNESCO World Heritage list along with Chopin’s music sheets and Copernicus’ works. We’ll also take you to two nearby churches, which survived the war. One of them changed its location, which was one of the most complex engineering projects in the history of the 20th-century Warsaw. The other one, reportedly, witnessed a miracle.
